Providing low-income individuals, couples
and families with safe, affordable housing
Supportive Housing Programs
The Lac Ste. Anne Foundation offers rent supplement programs for low to moderate income families and individuals. For each one of these programs applicants must provide verification of current total household income as rental rates are based on a percentage of this income. Applicants must also provide acceptable landlord references where possible. Placements are made on a priority basis. All applications are assessed based on the need for housing with priority for the next available suite going to the applicant in most need.
The Government of Alberta has redesigned its Rent Supplement Program to meet the needs of more Albertans, including working families and those most in need.
Effective April 1, 2021, Lac Ste. Anne Foundation is accepting applications for the Rent Assistance Benefit. Formerly, the Direct to Tenant Rent Supplement, this long-term benefit will continue to subsidize low income Albertans.
Eligibility Requirements:
Eligibility criteria varies significantly for supportive housing, based on the volume and urgency of applications and program availability in the area. Eligibility assessment for supportive housing is managed through the Lac Ste. Anne Foundation. After your application has been processed, the Lac Ste. Anne Foundation Placement Committee will determine if you meet eligibility requirements and the supportive housing manager will contact you to determine the next steps.
Rent Assistance Benefit
Formerly the Direct To Tenant Rent Supplement
This program offers a subsidy directly to the eligible tenant to assist with rental costs and is delivered through the Lac Ste. Anne Foundation on a monthly basis. Tenants must provide proof that they are renting a legal suite and must submit rent receipts from the landlord as well as the lease. This subsidy is based on the difference between 30% of the household's income and the market rent for the area. Tenants must make their full rent payment directly to the landlord.
Private Landlord Rent Supplement
This program allows the to enter into an agreement directly with private landlord on behalf of the tenant, to provide a rent supplement paid directly to the landlord. This supplement is based on the difference between market rent, and the amount eligible tenants pay, based upon the signed lease agreement. The tenant must pay their portion of the rent directly to the landlord.
